Sorry About the Confusion – Panel Hosts/Streamers and Panel Leads

Hello there, CON-goers! It has come to our attention that there is a great deal of confusion and misunderstanding in regards to the roles and expectations of “Panel Lead” and “Panel Host/Streamer” at the event. We’re sorry about that.

Both Panel Hosts/Streamers and Panel Leads have reached out to us in equal numbers, concerned that they are going to be asked to do something they did not sign up for in their understanding of the situation.

But, this is our first year, and we are rolling with the punches to be adaptable. So, the solution we have come up with is more communication, this time between Panel Leads and Panel Hosts. We are asking you to communicate with one another to determine which of you should actually MC the panel, and serve in the role of what other conventions might call the “Panel Moderator.”

We understand that some Panel Hosts/Streamers are hosting sensitive topics they feel unprepared to MC. We also understand that people have a range of abilities in the situation of MCing. And we understand that some Panel Hosts/Streamers do not feel comfortable managing the technology of the stream and MCing at the same time. Communication between Panel Hosts/Streamers and Panel Leads will be beneficial in helping things run smoothly.

If you would like to use this form to let us know what decisions you have made, you are welcome to do so. Note that you don’t have to use this form, but we believe it will be useful to many people, so we’ve decided to offer it:

If there are any problems, please contact one of the Planning Committee as soon as possible, and we will help you to find a solution. We expect this will mostly be done through the Discord, but if you have been chatting with us through some other method, that’s fine too.
